Cessna Selects Garmin's Integrated Avionics System for Citation Mustang

Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd., today announced that Cessna Aircraft Company has selected the Garmin G1000 integrated avionics system for the new Citation Mustang business jet. The Mustang panel features a 15-inch multi-function display, flanked by pilot and co-pilot 10-inch primary flight displays.

Since the Mustang is a totally new design, we’re honored that Cessna has chosen a revolutionary avionics system to complement this exciting bizjet, said Gary Kelley, Garmin's director of marketing. Mustang owners will get the maximum benefit of quality, service and value — passions we have in common with Cessna — in our leading-edge G1000 integrated avionics suite.

Garmin's all-glass flightdeck in the Mustang will be an impressive sight, but it’s what is behind the beautiful displays that really sets the G1000 apart from other avionics systems. The lightweight, modular design and open architecture continue Garmin's tradition of technology innovation. All information — from aircraft attitude and air data to engine instrumentation, real-time weather data link, traffic and terrain — is uniquely integrated and digitally depicted on the dual large-format PFDs and MFD to simplify operation, enhance situational awareness and increase flight safety. The brilliant color TFT displays on the G1000 system boast XGA resolution with wide viewing angles and clear sunlight readability. Additionally, the G1000 will include the following:

* Dual digital audio control panels

* Dual integrated radio modules that provide WAAS-capable IFR oceanic-approved GPS; VHF navigation with ILS; and VHF communication with 16-watt transceivers and 8.33-kHz channel spacing

* Dual Mode-S transponders with Traffic Information Service

* Dual solid-state Attitude and Heading Reference Systems

* Dual RVSM-compliant digital air data computers

* Three-axis digital Automatic Flight Control System

* Four-color digital weather radar

* Integrated Class-B Terrain Awareness and Warning System with worldwide terrain and obstacle database

The G1000 integrated avionics system delivers mission-critical capabilities, ease of use, reliability, flight safety, low cost of ownership and overall value that are symbolic of the Citation Mustang.

Garmin's G1000 provides state-of-the-art cockpit technology that adds further value to the Mustang’s reputation of being the best new breakthrough business jet on the market. We are pleased to be working with Garmin on this exciting project, and we are confident in their ability to deliver the quality and support Citation customers rely on, said Roger Whyte, Cessna’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
