UNIDEN ACCELERATES INNOVATION IN MARINE ELECTRONICS

Uniden America Corporation today announced the latest addition to its marine product portfolio, the Mystic, a full VHF/GPS mapping marine handheld radio. Available in November 2003, the Mystic continues Uniden’s tradition of developing innovative marine electronics. Uniden also unveiled enhanced versions of two of its most popular marine radios, Atlantis and Oceanus.

The Mystic will combine the latest in GPS technology with all of the advanced features of Uniden’s popular marine radio line into a functional, durable design. Some of the key features will include:

• Magellan GPS technology

• Full screen mapping GPS

• Large data display and compass screen

• JIS7 submersible design

• Call party position indication

• Digital selective calling

• S.A.M.E WX weather alert

• Full backlit LCD and keypad

• Lithium Ion rechargeable battery The unit will ship complete with Lithium Ion battery, charging cradle, AC and DC adapters and software.

We are pleased to be able to offer our customers a technologically advanced GPS radio with the highest quality and value on the market today, commented product manager Kent Newman for Uniden America Corporation. In designing the Mystic, our end goal was a product that would offer the ideal combination of utility and durability that serious marine enthusiasts demand. In addition to the Mystic, Uniden will introduce enhanced versions of two of its popular marine radios this fall.

In October, the best-selling Atlantis marine handheld radio will be available with all of the same features in a new rubber grip design, the Atlantis 250. In November, the original Oceanus fixed-mount VHF radio will be available with digital selective calling. DSC enables radio-to-radio direct calls and one-button emergency calls for Coast Guard assistance.

Mariners have very specific qualifications. Whether we are developing new products or enhancing the design of existing products, Uniden is continually striving for ways to exceed the needs of our customers, said Rex Holloway, director of project management for Uniden America Corporation. These new products complement Uniden’s existing suite of marine products, including the pioneering Polaris and Voyager VHF radios introduced in late 2002.

The fixed-mount, wireless microphone ready Polaris radio and corresponding wireless handheld access microphone offer unprecedented functionality and versatility for users by giving full-function, wireless control of their radio from different parts of their craft. In addition, Uniden’s Voyager is one of the world’s smallest portable, full-featured VHF marine radios. For more information, on the latest GPS News see marine gps.
