SkyMate Inc. provides economical maritime satellite communications with global coverage
SkyMate announced today that its SkyMate 100
communicator was awarded two prestigious industry awards in one month. SkyMate was
awarded the Innovative Technology Award for Consumer Electronics by the National
Marine Manufacturers Association at the 2004 Miami International Boat Show.
The Innovation Award is the recreational boating industry’s highest honor for product
excellence. The SkyMate 100 was recognized for innovative achievement by Boating
Writers International, whose members served as the judges for the awards
program. The SkyMate 100 is the only consumer electronics product that offers boaters
five essential data services in a product small enough to fit on any boat.
SkyMate was also awarded SAIL Magazine’s Freeman K. Pittman Editors’ Choice
Award in the February issue.
For the Pittman award, SAIL seeks out the new products on
the North American market that most embody the qualities of excellence and technical
innovation. For 2004, SAILtechnical editor Ben Ellison, selected the SkyMate 100 as
among the best and brightest new gear in marine electronics. Ben wrote, SkyMate is
compact, miserly with power, and easily hooks up to a laptop, VHF-style antenna. The
software is pie simple, whether you want to send text e-mail, or automatic position
reports, fetch a variety of weather reports, or keep an eye on your vessel from afar.
We are gratified that NMMA and SAIL have chosen to recognize our efforts to offer
boaters a truly new and useful product to enhance their safety and enjoyment of boating.
said John Tandler, CEO and founder of SkyMate.

its wireless systems with a mission to make high-quality, reliable satellite data delivery
affordable to boaters and the marine industry. Company executives hold several US
patents for innovations in satellite design and operation, and have over 25 years of
