IDA CORPORATION ANNOUNCES RADIO-BASED, WEBACCESSED GPS AVL VEHICLE TRACKING
IDA Corporation announced that it will offer TRAKIT RF/IP to
Specialized Mobile Radio operators in the United States. The system provides for
satellite tracking of vehicles in local radio environments by way of an internet connection.
IDA’s TRAKIT Global Positioning Systems devices installed in vehicles
communicate over a dedicated or shared radio frequency to the base radio station.
There
the TRAKIT base unit sends the vehicle location data through a TRAKIT Internet
Protocol box to IDA’s GLOBAL TRAKIT DATA CENTER located at its national
headquarters in Fargo, North Dakota. Locations of vehicles are viewed on a digital map
using a standard internet browser. Special Web Client software automatically connects to
the internet to show the location of the entire fleet of vehicles as well as generates a
battery of reports including activity and detailed stop analysis.
The TRAKIT RF/IP vehicle tracking system answers to the need for low-cost, simple
GPS vehicle tracking that utilizes existing available radio infrastructures. SMRs can
provide high-utility Automatic Vehicle Location service to their customers
requiring only a minimum capital investment.
We believe that the TRAKIT RF/IP system offers a cost-effective method of making use
of underutilized radio frequencies and provides an attractive recurring revenue
opportunity for SMRs states John Kruse, president of IDA Corporation. IDA can take
advantage of its existing GLOBAL TRAKIT DATA CENTER to provide this valuable
service to customers and income opportunity for SMRs.
