Global Positioning System End-of-Week Rollover

The GPS EOW Rollover is a scheduled event that takes place every 20 years of GPS operation. The first EOW Rollover will take place at midnight on the evening of August 21. While not a Year 2000 problem, the rollover is analogous to a common manifestation of the Year 2000 problem.

Originally designed for military purposes, GPS systems are used in a variety of non-military applications for navigation, surveying, logistics, scientific research, and precision time determination for such applications as telecommunication networks and remote Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems.
