AEROSPACE COMPANY MOVING TO WACO
The Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce announced today that
FreeFlight, an aerospace industry pioneer in global positioning systems technology, is
relocating to Waco.
FreeFlight is a perfect match for Waco, said Chamber president/CEO Jack
Stewart. This is a cutting-edge company that has selected Waco for its enterprise, which
we see as an aggressive, growing technology business.
FreeFlight makes global positioning systems (GPS) for aircraft navigation and
onboard safety systems for business and commuter aircraft in the U.S. and globally.
Waco had the right location, right workforce and the right price, said Steve
Williams, president of FreeFlight. FreeFlight is excited about a profitable future and
strong relationships with Waco.
FreeFlight is an APS Aerospace company that recently acquired the business
and commuter aircraft product business from Trimble Navigation.
Approximately 25
employees from the operation formerly located in Austin will move to Waco and
FreeFlight expects to hire about that many more before the end of the year.
FreeFlight will begin moving into its new location, 3700 S. Jack Kultgen Freeway,
within the next month. The repair portion of FreeFlight will be the first to relocate to Waco.
The rest of the enterprise will move in early September.
The growth potential for FreeFlight is terrific, said Stewart. FreeFlight
complements the synergy that already exists in our community’s aviation/aerospace
industries.
